Inspired by the interplay between visual forms and bodily forces, my work finds artistic expression in different media and practices that are <\/span><\/div>\n
as visual as they are embodied, <\/span><\/div>\n
as spiritual as they are immanent and material. <\/span><\/div>\n
From painting to drawing, yoga, to design and video, <\/span><\/div>\n
I draw inspiration from aesthetic, bodily, and material forces <\/span><\/div>\n
that feed the movement of my work from the inside-out.<\/span><\/div>\n
I\u2019m interested in the in-between status of existence that escapes visual perception but can be felt, touched, and experienced. <\/span><\/div>\n
My art is located in-between binaries (inside\/outside, light\/heavy, visual\/haptic, closed\/open) and articulates \u201cdifferent shades of grey.\u201d I see these artistic practices not as disconnected from life but, rather, as a way to both<\/span><\/div>\n
 affirm and experience art as a way of life.<\/span><\/div>\n

Michaela Lawtoo ist 1978 in Freudenstadt geboren. <\/span><\/div>\n
W\u00e4hrend ihres Dipl. Modedesign Studiums in Pforzheim und einer Masterarbeit in Basel, (2005-2011) legt sie wesentliche Grundsteine f\u00fcr Ihre k\u00fcnstlerische Entwicklung im intensiven Studium mit Prof. Erich Reiling und Prof. Isabel Zuber. Sie verbringt ein Semester in Paris, zum Studium der franz\u00f6sischen Sprache & Philosophie (2005), daraufhin (2007) ein Semester in Paris f\u00fcr ein Praktikum bei BLESS und Lutz H\u00fclle und ein Semester in USA, (Seattle) um die englische Sprache zu vertiefen (2009). 2013-2016 verbrachte sie mit Ihrer Familie (zwei Kinder) in Baltimore USA. Dort schloss sie 2015 ihre Ausbildung als Hatha Yoga Teacher ab. 2017 f\u00fcgte sie ein Asthanga Yoga Teachertraining in Athen hinzu. Seit 2016 lebt sie mit Ihrer Familie in Aachen und ist seitdem als freischaffende K\u00fcnstlerin und Yogalehrerin t\u00e4tig.
